summer red with incinerator

by prettymom on 2013-03-10 23:41 • Send feedback »

it's been quite a while i've been posting my makeup looks. i've not been wearing makeup much or been wearing minimal looks which dominates most look posts this summer. i probably use too much "it's too hot" excuse.

while it's still quite hot today, i'm in the mood to pretty myself up and did something slightly more than just the normal minimal looks i've been wearing.

eotd with shiro incinerator

i mainly wore shiro cosmetics eyeshadow in incinerator on my eyes. this is a discontinued color and i purchased from the site a quite a while ago.

this is a shimmer red slightly on the orange side. most swatches i found are quite intense but when applied on the eyes it's like a wash of color. it's the first time i tried this color. i'll try more products next time to see if i can get more intense color out of it. but i'm quite happy for the subtle color for this hot summer day.

eye makeups used:

  • etude house proof 10 primer
  • daiso brow pencil in brown
  • detrivore eyeshadow in catacombs - on the brows
  • shiro cosmetics eyeshadow in incinerator - all around the eyes
  • revlon colorstay eye pencil in black - lower upper and lower outer 1/3 lashlines
  • detrivore eyeshadow in vulture - smudge the above eyeliner
  • maybelline the falsies mascara

daiso delicia #7 green glitter nail polish

daiso's delicia nail enamel in #7.

this one belongs to pretty girl. it was her reward for doing well in her chinese exam last year. she kindly granted me permission to swatch it for my blog. :)

i was surprised she chose green. i expected pink because she was crazy about anything pink. she said that she's  grown up and needs to like colors other than pink. that's my 7-year-old!

while it looks green from the bottle, it comes up clear on my nail. maybe some hint of mint green at certain angle.

the glitter is very fine and sparse. i had to apply 3 layers to fill up my nails with more glitters.

removing it is quite a breeze when compared to other glittery nail polishes with bigger chunks of glitters.

this lasts about 2 days on me. but since it's clear chips are not very noticiable. i'm able to extend wearing this for the whole week.

sally hansen complete salon manicure - red zin

as with most past chinese new years, i love to paint my nails red to celebrate the spring festival.

sally hansen complete salon manicure - red zin

this year, i wore sally hansen complete salon manicure in red zin. it's a dark deep red. almost like blood <-- if you're superstitious, this shouldn't be mentioned during the period. but the spring festival is long over and i'm not superstitious. if you follow me on instagram you probably remember seeing my bloody red claws and me mentioning this forbidden word. :p

i'm liking this color because, well, it's red, one of my favorite colors. this tone of red makes my hands appears paler and the dark color makes my fingers appears longer and slender.

sally hansen complete salon manicure

sally hansen complete salon maincure claims to be the first-ever polish to deliver 5 steps of professional manicure with 2 additional benefitss - gel-like shine and chip resistance.

it also comes with special precision brush that was developed exclusively by sally hansen that fits the curve of cuticles and shaped to hug the contours of your nails. it promotes better application and better wear.

sally hansen complete salon manicure

here's a comparison of the brush by sally hansen complete manicure (left) and revlon nail enamel (right), which is the size of most normal brushes.

i like the wider brush design. it does makes application smoother and easier and gives a more even finish.

as with shine factor. i've never worn gel nails. i don't know how they're like. maybe glass refrective kind of shine?

nails are shiny within hours of application. however without top coat it goes dull the next morning. a common property with most nail polishes i've worn.

however without top coat, i'm quite impressed the chip factor is quite minimal after doing houseworks.

normal application, ie with base coat, nail polish and top coat, this is one of the longer lasting nail polishes. it can last around 5 days.

the balm overshadow - if you're rich, i'm single

a few months ago i won thebalm's overshadow via twitter. i was able to choose color of my choice. there are 4 colors to choose from:

  • work is overrateed - shimmering pink champagne
  • no money, no honey - shimmering gold
  • you buy, i'll fly - shimmering copper
  • if you're rich, i'm single - shimmering mauve / pewter

i later got to check out the actual products at david jones. however at the time i chose the color based on what i saw online and chose if you're rich, i'm single, because it looks darkest and looks like it may look good just by itself. you know me, i like to do single eyeshadow looks, which are quick and easy and doesn't require too much makeup skills.

about the product:

theBalm’s Overshadow Series features a collection of 100% pure mineral pigments in wearable colours that add a luxe look to the lid, taking the most subtle daytime shadow and amping it up for night time fun. Free of talc, preservatives, oil and fragrance, Overshadows represents the first foray into the mineral market for theBalm. The result is a finely milled, all mineral shimmer designed to be used over your eye shadow giving the shadows already in your makeup arsenal a new dimension.

if you're used to indie loose eyeshadows, the container is bigger that 5g-jars.

the balm overshadow - if you're rich, i'm single - swatch

swatched over bare skin.

the color if you're rich, i'm single is described as 'shimmering mauve / pewter'. while it can look mauvish at certain angle, it looks mostly brown tone to me.

the balm overshadow - if you're rich, i'm single - the color

this is the first time i've used pigment. but i've been using it like how i use loose powder eyeshadows.

the texture is very fine and very smooth when applied.

the color is very shimmery. can be used alone to get that touch of shimmer or over eyeshadows to add sparkles that is attention-grabbing. it can also be used wet to add more intensity.

i've been using this alone and love how it instantly spice up simple and neutral looks. it's still wearable during the day.

i've also tried to mix small amount the product with body lotion to add that touch of shimmer. perfect for special events.

if you love shimmers, you don't want to miss out thebalm's overshadows.

the balm overshadow - if you're rich, i'm single

thebalm overshadows retails aud$22.95 and are available at selected pharmacies nation-wide and david jones.

oldies: bourjois effet 3d lipglosses

bourjois effet 3d lipglosses

another oldies series about glosses. this time it's bourjois effet 3d lipglosses. these were added to my collection during the time i was crazy about having shiny lips. these glosses were one of the few that gives a very shiny effect.

bourjois effet 3d lipglosses - the brush

unfortunately i don't use these glosses much. mainly because i hate the applicator. it's in brush format. no matter how careful i try to be when putting the applicator back into the tube, the bristle bend. eventually they go all different directions and do not give smooth applications anymore.

at first i thought it's just problem with 1 tube. but it's a problem with all of them.

so why do i buy more, i hear you ask. i don't know... it's a... makeup addict thing.

i always know i spent too much money on makeup, but i realize i really waste too much money on makeup during the last spring clean.

i believe i had more, but these were left after the many spring-clean over the years. i believe some colors are still available and some were discontinued.

bourjois effet 3d lipglosses

like all bourjois products, the colors are numbered and named. however i forgot to take note of the names and i can no longer checked because they were finally dumped.

bourjois effet 3d lipglosses

they are very shiny. like most good glosses, the shine factor lasts quite well, if i don't eat nor drink. as soon as they lips touched something, they're messy.

they were quite sticky too. stickiness was one reason why i wasn't into glosses, until some stage i was crazy about glosses and it didn't bother me much. of course now that i'm once again not that into glosses, it's one thing i can't stand.

#62 was one of the most frequently worn gloss. just by itself it's like a sheer gloss with subtle golden hint. it looks great on top of lipsticks, especially red lipsticks.
