a few weeks ago, i posted review and swatches of shiro cosmetics intertubes. here's the other 2 intertubes that came with the same order.

colors swatched with 2 swipes.

magnets is described as "plum with strong silver sheen". ridiculously photogenic is described as "deepened fuschia".

as mentioned in previous post, i love the texture of these intertubes. they are moisturizing, glides on smoothly. my dry lips loves them!

like the other 2 colors, these are very wearable. apply 1 coat for a touch of color and more coats for more intense colors.

just a note that these colors will leave a faint stain. i used makeup remover wipes to clean my hands after swatching and had a hard time to get the colors completely off.

if you're looking for moisturizing lipsticks, you should try these intertubes. they are usd$6.50 each and you get discounts when buy in bulk.

top 10 beauty favorites in 2012

by prettymom on 2013-01-24 16:05 • 1 feedback »

makeupskin carebeauty

i've been planning to do my top-list for 2012. i know, it's already near the end of the 1st month of 2013.

it's hard to shortlist only 10 products. here are my top beauty favorites in 2012, in no particular order, with links to more thorough reviews if you're interested to find out more.

1. real techniques buffing brush

real techniques buffing brush

this brush is part of the core collection. there were 2 brushes previously reviewed as the best i've tried. if i must choose one as my most most most favorite, i choose the buffing brush.

it's dense and its firm. i love that it uses less products than conventional foundation brushes and yet enough to cover the whole face including the neck. a truely multitasking brush that's not only for foundation but for highlighter, bronzer and blush.

love love love!

2. beaute pacifique scars and stripes fade-away creme

beaute pacifique scars and stripes fadeaway creme for scars & stretchmarks

introduced by a friend, i've been using this for most part of the year. because it was used at a time when my skin was misbehaving, you can visually see the improvements.

if you're after simple skin care routine, this is all you need after cleansing. perhaps additoinal moisturizer if you have very dry skin like mine.

it carries the most expensive price tag in this favorite list, but it's worth it!

3. qsilica remove makeup & grime cleansing gel *

qsilica remove makeup & grime cleansing gel

while this product is marketed as makeup remover, i've been using it as cleanser and been using it in mornings, mainly because of it's soothing fragrance. love to sniff it hard while cleansing. it's refreshing and awakening! perfect product to start your day with.

4. essence gel liner in london baby

essence gel eyeliner in london baby

gotta love the price tag of essence products. a buget friendly gel liner that is easy to apply and works with my prone-to-smudge eyes 99% of the time. plus, i love the brown that softly defines your eyes. perfect for natural looks i'm always wearing.

5. invisible zinc uv silk shield foundation

invisible zinc uv silk shield foundation

i've always love the convenience of stick foundations. this one works well with my dry skin. great coverage and great staying power. most important of all, it has spf30+ uv protection.

check out places like chemist warehouse where you don't have to pay full price.

6. fyrinnae lip lustre in type a

fyrinnae lip lustre in type a

it's not a lipstick. it's not a lip gloss. it's a very pigmented lipcolor with yummy smell. felt like cake on my lips. plus, the color is lovely! if you like red you have to try this color.

7. black rose minerals love me... love me trio

black rose minerals love me... love me trio

by now you should know how much i love black rose minerals eyeshadows. this trio was a 2012 valentine's collection and is my favorite collection of all time. mainly because the color is so natural and wearable. highly recommended for those who are makeup-shy or loves natural looks.

lovestruck (the mid-tone color) is one of my frequently used colors. perfect to be worn along for simple looks.

8. etude house proof 10 eye primer

etude house proof 10 eye primer

a primer that works on my oily lids 90% of the time. this isn't available in australia and can be purchased from ebay price range from usd$5 to $9. for the price i do not complain the 10% of the time it makes my eyeshadow crease. i'm onto 2nd tube.

9. one hand washes the other solid perfume in mermaid

solid perfume - mermaid

this smells floral and refreshing. if you like floral scent, you will love it. (i'm a scent noob. i don't know what more i can say about it. which explains why i still haven't post reviews about the smelly things that i bought.)

10. organic surge first class face mask

organic surge first class face mask

this feeds my thirsty dry skin! just apply generous amount to my skin after shower instantly relieves dryness and tightness. skin feels nourished. use before makeup (provided i have time) makes foundation application smoother.

the downside is, i haven't seen this sold anywhere in australia anymore and it's almost empty! my dry skin will miss it when it's finished!

are there anything in this list your favorites too?

catalina geo anti melanin smoothing cream review

by prettymom on 2013-01-23 00:41 • Send feedback »

skin care

catalina geo anti melanin smoothing cream is a 4-in-one product that promises:

  • White focus action keeps skin clean and clear with an even tone.
  • Extra firming action minimises damage to and loss of elastin and collagin, which are important in keeping skin elastic, resulting in firm skin.
  • Aqua soothing action moisturises the skin by revitalising moisture-retaining cells.
  • Moisturiser action provides sufficient moisture and radiance to keep skin healthy by strengthening skin from within with natural ingredients to care for all skin types including sensitive, dry or red skin.

what caught my eyes was the 'white focus action'.

growing up in australia, i was briefly influenced by 'healthy tan' as teenager. but 'pale is beauty' has been deeply rooted in my asian heritage. ok, i love pale mainly because i get more compliments when i am paler. while i do not go to the drastics of bleaching my skin, i do stay away from the sun as much as possible.

i don't use much whitening products because they're not available in australia. i tried some low end whitening products when i was working in hk but i didn't notice any visible difference. probably because i didn't see much sun and was quite pale back then.

this time, it was perfect timing to test out the whitening property of this product. i tanned slightly this summer due to walking to and from station a number of time, even though i always carry an umbrella.

first, let's have a look at the product.

the back of the jar.

while it has 'cream' in the name, the product is more of a gel-like texture.

i usually don't like using products packaged in a jar because i hate dipping my finger into the product. i'm glad it comes with a spectula.

it is light-weighted, soft and fluffy. the texture is quite similar to h2o+'s aqua cream (or some names along the line). it absorbs immediatly into the skin and doesn't leave any residue behind.

user experience

the product is slightly perfumed. it's quite a pleasing scent.

this reminds me some of the light-weight hydrating gels / moisturizers i used to use when i was in hk. having oily skin and living in a humid zone, most moisturizers were too heavy for me and i love how light weight they were and left my skin refreshed.

however having very dry skin now, it's like when water meets the sand on dry desert. it's quickly absorbed into the skin and then... nothing. the skin felt the same as before. tight and dry. applying more product just delay the process of skin returning to its original state. i definitely need a regular moisturizer when using this cream.

perhaps as moisturizer it's more suitable for those who have oily or normal skin.

now, whitening, the main purpose of trying out the product.

yes, it works! as previously mentioned, i tanned slightly this summer. i didn't really noticed the difference until someone asked me how did i stay so pale in summer. i started to notice that my skin does look paler and brighter. i can use my winter foundations without looking too grey.

apart from the whitening effect, there are no other visible improvements.

it'd be great if this product comes in a more intensive version for dry skin.

a nice message printed on the cap.

oldies: l'oreal glam shines

by prettymom on 2013-01-21 00:57 • Send feedback »

this is another oldies series where i post about makeups i once owned.

there was at one stage i was crazy about glosses.  i loved my lips as shiny as possible. the husband called it 'the roast duck look', as in eating roast duck without cleaning your mouth.

l'oreal glam shines

some of the lipgloss collection from l'oreal's glam shine ranges. i had more than that but these were the ones that were left when i did the decluttering exercise.

these glam shines are very glittery. lips are glossy on application but the shine factor aren't long lasting. my lips usually ended up with lots of small glittering particles by the end of the day. i haven't purchased glam shines in recent years so i don't know if it's still the case.

l'oreal glam shines

the glam shine sorbet and glam shine sheer glow.

l'oreal glam shines - swatches

the colors from these 2 ranges are sheer. on my lips you can still see subtle hint of color from the sorbets but all colors from sheer glows end up looking the same

i usually used the sheer glows as top coat for my lips.

l'oreal glam shines

the glam shine lipcolors.

l'oreal glam shines - swatches

the colors from this range are a little bit more pigmented, showed up a bit more than subtle hint of color on my pigmented lips.

as said, these glam shines gives your lip shine via the glittery particles and are in general not as glossy as expected. imo, mac lip glasses gives one of the best glossy shine factor.

have you owned any of these glam shines?
