August 2014 Empties

august 2014 empties

It’s near the end of the month. Time to see what I’ve used up. Only 3 items this month. It’s an under-achievement compared to last month’s empty list.

Palmer’s Skin Therapy Oil

It’s great for my super dry skin, both on my body and on my face. It feels greasy when applied but doesn’t feel greasy after a while. It instantly relieves dryness and tightness and softens the skin.

I don’t have stretch marks so I can’t say anything about that. I do have some old acne scars but there aren’t any noticeable improvement. Either it’s because the scars are too old or I need more time for the result to show.

I’m glad I bought a small bottle to try. I really want to love this but I don’t like the scent. It has cocoa scent but smells too artificial. You’ll probably like this if the scent doesn’t bother you too much. It’s unlikely I’ll re-purchase unless it’s deeply discounted.

Daiso Deep C Moisture Gel

This is a neglected item. I think I quite like it when I first purchased it. It’s not good enough for my dry skin but good enough for my t-zone. But I can’t be bothered to apply too many products on my face so I put it aside and discovered it again recently. The texture seemed to have changed after more than a year – it was soft fluffy gel-like and has become thick gel-like. It didn’t smell bad but I don’t dare to apply it on my face anymore. I use the leftovers on my dry heels and it seems to work well.

Lacura Age Vitale Eye Cream

This is eye cream for ‘very mature skin’, but having tried other eye creams sold from Aldi, this is the best performing eye cream for me. The consistency is thick yet not heavy. It hydrates and moisturizes the eye area well and when this area is well moisturized, it helps to minimize or softens the appearance of fine lines. Just don’t expect it will miraculously erase the lines away. It doesn’t give the ‘Wow!’ factor but for the price at around A$10 (can’t remember the exact figure) I can’t complain.

Sadly I haven’t seen this on the shelves at my local Aldi for quite sometime. I would definitely repurchase if it’s restocked on Aldi’s shelves.

random facts about me

There are various about-me tags in the blogsphere over the years. I’ve drafted quite a few versions but never publish them. It’s either the questions are, in my opinion, too intrusive into my privacy or I ended up revealing too much.

Since I’m still lacking photos to complete some of my review posts I thought I’ll just do a short-and-sweet version to fill up this blog and to let me readers to know something about me.

  1. I love drinking water. Yes, plain water!
  2. I am a night owl.
  3. I can survive whole day without speaking a word, yet I can talk non-stop with my close friends.
  4. I’m uncomfortable around people I don’t know, but I have no problem communicating with strangers online.
  5. I enjoy online life more than real life.
  6. I used to keep a diary when I was teenager and started making up a lot of things in my diary after finding out my mom read it. Reading it many years I couldn’t tell if what I wrote actually happened or not.
  7. I wanted to be a movie star when I was young but quickly woke up from this dream after being told by an ‘insider’ what happened in the industry (some of the rumors are true).
  8. I am a horrible singer.
  9. I didn’t believe in long-distance relationship and I kept long-distance relationship with the husband for almost 2 years before getting married.
  10. I finally accepted I belong to the middle-aged group, but I still want to stay 25 forever!

I tag anyone reading this. Feel free to leave links in comments if you’re doing it or have already done similar post, and use the above image if you wish (please download and upload it to your server and do not hotlink). I’d love to read them!

Life in Pictures – July & August 2014

One thing I try to do returning from hiatus is to update at least once a week. I failed. There are a few drafts in the work but lacking photos.

I have no excuse since I have a little photography corner setup that takes care of ‘no sunlight’ days. Blame it on my insomnia. Blame it on my dry lips. Blame it on my bad skin…

Putting the excuses aside, I decided to compile some photos from my Instagram for the last 2 months. Feel free to follow me and stalk bits of my life. :)

You see lots of my lips on Instagram. It’s no secret that I love lipsticks. Since I don’t wear makeup much nowadays my lips becomes the only part I can show off.

Revlon Colorburst Matte Balm in #225 Sultry

I was quite excited to see Revlon introduced Matte Balm into its jumbo lip crayon family. I love the convenience and ease of use of jumbo lip crayons and I used to live in matte lip era and loved everything matte. It took me quite a while to accept glossy lips trend. But after so many years seeing shiny lips all over the place, I’m delighted to see various brands coming out with matte lip products.

Revlon ColorBurst Matte Balm #225 Sultry

Revlon’s Colorburst Matte Balm is said to be infused with triple butter complex of shea, mango and coconut butter and gives a burst of matte color with a balm-like feel.

Retailed at A$17.95, I got this from Chemist Warehouse a few months ago when it was 50% off all Revlon products.

Rimmel London Lasting Finish Lipstick by Kate #19

I love nude lips, but I can’t wear ‘real’ nude lips because I look sick and dead in them. My kind of nude lips are those with pinkish or rosy tones. Here’s one of those perfect products that gives my kind of nude lips.

Rimmel London Lasting Finish Lipstick by Kate #19

Rimmel London Lasting Finish Lipstick by Kate Moss, that comes in a sleek matte black case with Kate’s signature. This is part of a spring collection released back in 2012, with shades picked by Kate herself.

I picked this up at Priceline a while ago when all Rimmel London products (or just lip or selected products?) were 50% off. It normally RRP at A$11.95. It is a bit pricier than regular Lasting Finish Lipsticks, which RRP at A$9.95. I haven’t tried the regular line so I can’t compare them but I assume they’re of the same texture and quality.

The color I picked up is #19. I wish there are names associate with shades. I tend to remember names than numbers.
