nivea visage dnage dirming night cream

nivea dnage firming night cream, rrp aud$20. i bought this near the end of last year from priceline when it was reduced to aud$15.

inside the jar

inside the jar. the consistency is creamy and thick, but not as thick as similar product from another range, expert lift night cream.

besides the price, what attracts me to this product is firming.

when you reach certain age, you want to believe in miracles, even though you wonder how is it achievable via a cream applied on your skin and you have to wait for certain period of time to see results. and even though past experiences have taught me i never have the patience to wait that long. a moisturizer is just a moisturizer.

what does it promise?

info from the product page:

The majority of skin ageing is a result of external influences that lead to damage at the core of the skin cell - the DNA.  With age, the DNA's own renewal capacity declines and cell damages accumulate.  This makes skin age visibly.  The formula with powerful combination of cell active folic acid and creatine effectively stimulate healthy cell renewal from within.  The formula replenishes in depth moisture and regenerates skin.

does it make it sound like it's capable to repair your dna to improve your skin? i'm always sceptical when anything says to repair / alter your dna to improve something. i mean, dna is what you're born with. won't i mutate into something else if my dna is altered? (i can be wrong. my knowledge goes back to biology class in high school many moons ago.)

user experience

i don't like the scent. it's not too offensive, but it's not very pleasing. so typical with nivea products.

i also don't like the warmth feeling when applied on my skin. it was summer when i used it and it makes me feel uncomfortable. i put it aside and thought it's probably better for cooler days.

i used it again when cooler day came, it doesn't satisfy my thirsty skin.

the jar... let's not repeat why i don't like products come in jars. most 'rich' products that are suitable for me come in jars.

i tried to convince myself to continue using it since i bought it. but i've been using it on and off since it was purchased quite a while ago. it's just not something that can make me using it religiously. unless i'm running out of equivalent product to use. i don't use it frequently enough to judge if it delivers what it promises.

obviously, it's not something i'll repurchase.

it's now handed over to the husband. he doesn't mind using things i don't like. hopefully he'll remember to apply moisturizer and finish it!
