i’ve been wanting to try embryolisse lait-creme concentre seeing sam from pixiwoo using this quite often. she has dry skin and i have dry skin. if someone with dry skin raves about it, it must be good, isn’t it?
embryolisse is available in australia. however it’s not widely accessible. i remember seeing it selling at certain online sites but at the time of writing this post, i can’t find it. if i remember correctly, it’s about aud$38.
i bought mine from ebay where price ranges from usd$25 to $40. the seller i purchased from is hk-based and also has an online site, which is also the only site i could find that ships internationally. i purchased via ebay because it was discounted on ebay at the time. the regular price at the site is usd$29 for 75ml. it was well packaged and product was boxed.
first, let’s take a look at the product.
it is package in tubes, which looks like medicated cream.
the product was sealed and you can open it with the pointy tip at the end of the cap. the cap is also flat top so the product could stand up right.
since it was packaged in a tube, i expect the cream to be heavy and thick. the consistency is thinner than expected. it’s thinner than cream and thicker than lotion.
what is it?
taken from the website:
A wonderful care product – a real beauty secret, favoured by dermatologists for decades; a combination of ingredients of natural origin with recognised virtues, rich in essential fatty acids and vitamins. Provides the skin with all the nutrients and water needed for its balance, reconstitutes its hydrolipidic film – the barrier that protects the skin from aggression – and accelerates cell renewal. Moisturised, nourished and repaired, the skin is supple and elastic once more. It is plumped, smoothed, and incredibly soft. Signs of dryness and discomfort disappear, leaving the skin soothed. Its creamy milk texture leaves a satin film, even on dry skin. Skin is nourished in-depth, no longer feels tight and is soothed. Its surface is softer and more radiant, as though revitalised. Its reparative effect on damage caused by passing time and external aggressors is visible on application. Paraben-free preservative.
Apply morning and/or evening to clean, dry face. Massage in gently without applying pressure, and leave to penetrate. The Lait-Crème Concentré can also be used to cleanse the skin or remove make-up, as a repairing mask, an after-shave cream, or as a baby-care product.
doesn’t it sounds like a wonderful product?
this is a product that didn’t give me the wow! factor. being a cult product amongst models and makeup artists, and being made in france, i have very high expectation. it’s when you have expecations it becomes disappointing when it doesn’t meet your expectation.
the moisturizer is quite rich, however it seems to sooth the skin just on the outer layer. you don’t feel that it penetrates into the skin, as in skin drinks it all up.
it’s fine when used in the day but as night moisturizer i often wake up with slight dryness and tightness. i will need to top up before bed time to minimize the discomfort or use it with another product.
this could be probably because my skin is dry and the condition is worse during winter months.
it was until i was looking up product information preparing for this review i learned that this product can also be used as cleanser, makeup remover and mask. this sounds amazing that you can do everything with just one product. that is, if works. however i’m not a huge fan with its other functions.
as cleanser, it’s like cream cleansers, however i do not feel my face is thoroughly cleansed.
as makeup remover, it’s fine with light makeup. with heavy makeup it’s best to use products that’s for this purpose. it also doesn’t remove eye makeups well.
as repairing mask, as perviously said, i don’t feel it penetrates into the skin. dry skin feels soothing but doesn’t feel that nourishing. sometimes i wonder if it’s the lack of soothing fragrance like most other repairing masks.
however it works quite well as makeup base. just do not expect the extra smooth texture you get from primers. make sure you wait a few minutes before applying your makeup.
one controversial issue is that embryolisse lait-creme concentre contains mineral oils. there are people against it because it may cause break outs. i don’t have this problem and this doesn’t bother me.
will i purchase it again? probably not. to me, it’s just an over-hyped basic moisturizer.
