maybelline great lash mascara

every since i started playing with makeup so many moons ago, i've been told about maybelline's great lash mascara. of course i didn't really knew the name. i just remembered the pink tube. i've seen some aunts and older cousins using them. even beauty magazines today still raved about this pink tube.

if you know me, i'm not a mascara person. i have short sparse lashes. it doesn't gives me the length and the volume most mascara claims. worst of all, i always ended up looking like a panda. i spent so much money in mascaras in the past. cheap or expensive. nothing worked.

i was also contact lens wearer back in those days. i know some people don't have problems. but for me, contact lens and mascara don't go together. my eyes were very senstive when wearing contact lens with mascara. but no problem if i wear glasses. but who wants to wear glasses?

i have given up on mascara for many years. even after i don't need glasses anymore. i know it looks kinda odd when you have a full face makeup without lashes. that's better than looking like a panda!

recently i've been watching a lot of makeup tutorials. the emphasis is on the eyes. it really makes a big difference on their looks after they're done with their lashes. either with false eye lashes or with mascara.

when i saw the great lash mascara was marked down, i decided to give it one more try. i've tried this in the past. but i'm willing to try again because it's still the cheapest of them all and the most raved even amongst professionals.

surprisingly the panda eyes i was worried about wasn't too bad. either the product has improved or it's do with my makeup habbit and techniques.

ok, i'm allowing mascara back into my makeup routines. one more expense now since the life time of mascra is 1 month after opening. i can stretch it to maybe 6 weeks. still need to replace it more frequently than any other makeup items.

and yes, it seems to open up my eyes. i look more awake.

it's 1 month AFTER opening. the expiry date, if printed, is for unopened tube.

cynthiaI'm not too crazy of mascara because I have sensitive eyes. Every time I apply on my lashes, my eyes gets very teary. I always omit applying mascara, but I do agree with you, it makes your eyes more awake.

@cynthia, line your top lid close to the lash line. it has the same effect to make your eyes look more awake.

TriciaOh, I had to go throw away all my sample mascaras after this post! I don't use them anyway. My sister in law is an optometrist and she gave me this bottle of hair follicle stimulate drops that I can apply to the bottom of my eyelashes. It is supposed to give me longer lashes in 4 months. But the problem is as soon as I stop using it, the lashes will eventually fall out (which is normal shedding) and the old short ones will grow back. So I've not given it a try!

@tricia, yeah no point keeping old mascaras if you don't use them. if i don't throw mine away, i'll be tempted to use later, forgetting how long it's been opened. it has happened i used a mascara from quite a long time ago and my eyes was red and itchy. thank goodness nothing major happened! lessons learned.

unlike other products that i keep opening and use them at the same time. mascara is one item that if opened i'll use it loyally for a month or so before throwing it away and open a new one.
