summer fresh and natural

makeup

it's such a hot day. summer has officially started for quite a while but it was until last week that it's been continuously hot for days. have i mentioned that i don't like summer? i hate the feeling of hot and humid.

simple eyes

i opted for a really simple look on hot days. brown. an obvious choice to create simple and natural look. it's close to skin color.

my makeup rarely stayput on hot summer days. i'll need to powder my face if i want my makeup to stayput, but using too much products on my face feels uncomfortable. so keeping it simple means if makeup smudges, creases, fades etc, it's not that obvious.

physicians formula eyeshadow in baked spices

today's look was created with physicians formula baked collection wet / dry eyeshadow in baked spices (previous reviewed here). one of my favorite brown palettes.

though you see fallouts around the palette (due to domed shape of these shadows), there aren't fallouts when applied.

i can't remember if i like the applicator. as you can see, it's quite hard to get it out. it's quicker grabbing my brushes.

look of the day

this is a bit more than the minimal makeup look i did while on holiday. or perhaps it can be classified as a different minimal look.

simple face

face lightly dusted with mineral powder foundation. usually with mineral powder foundation you need a lot of buffing to blend in the color, but i avoid over buffing during hot days. even though i have dry skin, my face still gets shiny as time go by. my face is very reflective if i buff too much.

sometimes i'll bare my face on hot days. just moisturizer and sunscreen or moisturizer with spf. completely free of foundation and bb cream. of course i can't go totally bare. i still need concealer to cover up the dark circles and hide some annoying imperfections, if any.

look of the day

really simple look. highlighting was also used in this look.

i just dabbed a bit of bright off-white eyeshadow over the bridge of the nose and on cupid's bow. i didn't go crazy highlighting my face like bubzbeauty and michelle phan did in their recent no-makeup and clean look tutorials. i think what they did look good in vdos and photos but not in real life. in addition, my face will shine naturally as time goes by. i don't want to end up looking like a mirror.

on my eyes, just using the pf shadow palette and line my upper lashline with brown eyepencil and lower lashline with golden tone eye pencil. mascara was not used in this look. though it may makes the eyes looking less tiring, it just feels too much on hot days.

on my cheeks, slightly contour the cheek bone with mac blush in mocha and leave the apples of the cheeks clean. sometimes it will naturally blush when my blood is boiled in hot summer days.

on my lips, revlen color burst lipstick in soft rose.
