smokey eye makeup tutorial by frmheadtotoe.

discovered her tutorials while looking for tutorials on how koreans do their makeups. the korean stars look so natural. i wanted to find out what are the hard works behind to achieve such no-makeup natural looks.

today i tried smokey eyes based on one of her tutorials. i watched it quite a while ago. i don't think it's this one. i remember the look was achieved by applying black eye pencil, smudge, repeat and rinse until the required intensity is achieved. but i can't seem to locate the tube.

ps monolid girls, you have to watch her tutorials!

look of the day

the apply and smudge method isn't as easy as it seems. it's quite time consuming. when the black pencil was applied it was a bit shocking, then it fades when smudged. this was repeated a few times to get the intensity i like. i think i spent too much time doing this and didn't have time to pay attention to other things.

subtle smokey eyes

it's not very dramatic, but it's not as natural as the pic.

subtle smokey eyes - open

the color disappears when i open my eyes.

i didn't line the whole lower eyeline to avoid a too dramatic effect for office environment.

the lip color looks surprising better in pic than in real life.

key items used

since i always use more or less the same products, i won't list everything.

on the eyes, boujois clubbing waterproof eye pencil in black party. i was hoping the waterproof property will stop creasing. it still creases. but when used as eye liner, the staying power is great!

on lips, rimmel lasting finish intensive wear lipstick in asia. this is a nudish color. i know i know... nude is not for me. but i just want to give it another try since so many people used in their makeup tutorials and they look stunning! it looks quite bleh on me but the look improved slightly with a touch of gloss - just dab in the center.

these are part of my recent purchases. they were marked down at priceline.

i actually tried using carbon and blacktrack on my lids b4 and had to blend it out, it was really dark. i used the black w/vibrant grape, so it was kinda smokeyish. but somehow the grape color didnt look so bright. oh well have to play with it some more.

just practice more, you'll get it. sorry about me rumbling. lol =P

@linda, of course, practice makes perfect! you have to post what you have done!

I like from head to toe tutorials - her tutorial seems like it is easy to re-create but when I do it on myself I find it hard. I don't know why, but I have a hard to recreating certain look and using certain colors. Also I always thought that I have monolid - and when my family says that I have an eye lid I never was able what they are referring to because my Cantonese is that bad to understand what they are saying.

@cynthia i quite like from head to toe because most of her looks are quite everyday wearable. could it be because you have different eye shaps that makes it hard to recreate? perhaps you need a bit of modification.
