makeup, review

my makeup order from silk naturals

my makeup order from silk naturals. i'm so excited with my new toys! but i haven't had time to play with them yet.

i discovered this site via edm's forum. the forum is no longer available. i wonder if this is the reason?

this site sells mineral makeups. i'm not into mineral makeups because of the hype that it's organic and natural. in fact choice has found that mineral makeups is not so natural. i simply like mineral foundation for the ease of use.

mineral foundation from sn is different from most. with most you choose the color. with sn, you mix your own color. it's caled perfect harmony foundation.

silk naturals foundation samples

this is my first foundation sample order last month. you get 4 small packs of dark or base color and a pack of white powder. a small scoop. a small container.

the hard part is determine the base color. the reason i'm trying out sn is because i still can't determine my perfect color with edm. i still can't. because there isn't enough white powder for me to try. the white powder package you see in the first pic, that's to continue my testing.

the sound of mixing it yourself may sound daunting. but it's quite fun. in addition, your color is different in winter and summer. you can adjust the color yourself.

only if i can find my base color!

i will report more when i have time to play with them on the weekend.

silk naturals is very generous with samples. with my first order, i was surprised with 2 very pretty eye shadow samples and a lipcolor. if you're wondering what't the red dots in the lower right hand corner in the first pic, that's the lip color sample. with this order, because i spent over $30 i'm qualified for a free full-size eye shadow. i got one more eye shadow sample and lip color!

their eye shadow colors are more interesting than edm's. there are a lot of famous clones. the clones are not just limited to eye shadows. you get clone blush and lip colors as well.

rewards and referral

sn uses reward system. you are rewarded with points with every dollar you spend. when collected enough points you can buy items with them.

sn also has referral program. you get reward points when you refer someone. so if you're going to buy from them, please said that you're referred by me so i can get some points. :) just put down my email address as referal in the note – coco [at] prettymom.org, replace [at] with @. thanks! :)

cynthiaThe items that you got looks really nice but for me I'm looking into eye shadow palette, cause it's hard for me to choose one color and I'm not 100% satisfied with it if the eye shadow doesn't work for me. I'm planning to get 88 color eye shadow palette at http://www.bhcosmetics.com/?action=Products in the future and play around with it at least there are more choice to it than just one color.

Lindaoh michelle phan uses costal scents 88: http://www.coastalscents.com/cfwebstore/index.cfm/product/1677_122/88-piece-makeup-palette.cfm on some of her tutorials. :) and btw bh cosmetics and costal scents uses the same company base in china, and the palettes look kinda similar. i think bh cosmetics only deals with US costomers, while costal scents deal worldwide. ;)

I just check reviews on coastal scents and they are quite mixed. The bad one are that the colors are pigmented on fingers but not on eye lids. Not that I'm prejudice but when I hear products made in china I'm quite sceptical. Especially you use the products near your eyes! Those bad news about products from china is scary. Eg the 'poison baby formula'. I know thus can happen from anywhere but I hear too many such cases from china.

cynthiaI realized that both companies BH Cosmetics and Coastal Scents eye shadow products are made from China and was not aware of this. Here's the review http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20090518220340AAJWCs6

I guess it's too good to be true, for some catchy pricing.
