makeup

what a lengthy mouthful name!

this is the first time i bought lipsticks from rimmel. this brand has been around for a while but i never really bother looking at it because i don't want to look like kate moss. sorry kate moss fans. she's just never one of those models that appeals too me. she didn't stand out amonst the supermodels. not typically pretty. too skinny. not to mention her involvement with drugs.

my first ever purchase from this brand were mascaras, when they were all marked down to $10 each. i've used only 1 so far and i'm not totally impressed. to be fair i haven't used mascaras for a while and i've just added that back to my makeup routine. i'll have to try others to give a better review.

besides buying online, i haven't bought lipsticks for a long time. i ended up getting them because i saw some youtubers used them in makeup tutorials. and they were under $10.

rimmel lipsticks

i got asia and heavenly.

rimmel lipstick color swatches - heavenly and asia

the colors on my hand. asia is orangy-ish brownish in color. heavenly is plummish.

heavenly is similar to mac's plumful. perhaps more purplish than plumful.

on my lips, asia is just nudish. it's close to my natural lip color. the problem is i don't really like my naturally lip color. even if i like it i can just gloss it. why do i need something the same as it? this doesn't make me look sick like most nudes do. but it's not too appealing. it takes time to get used to it. it doesn't look good when used alone, but when teamed up with glosses, it's not too bad. i've tried clear gloss, gloss with hint of gold and hint of red.

i wore asia in my previous looks. you can see how the color looks on my lips in those posts.

my thoughts

the color is quite intense. it's not drying but the color wears off quite easily. i always gloss my lips when using this product so i'm not sure if this has any adversed effect to the 'lasting finish'.

nowadays i'm not after anything really lasting. i mean, if the color doesn't fade, i won't have the chance to re-apply! when will i ever use up my lipsticks?!

the bad

i read that these lipsticks have smell. but i couldn't smell anything with the testers. i thought formula changed. no...

these lipsticks have strong bubblegum smell when applied. i'm not a huge fan of bubblegums. the smell fades after a while. either i'm used to it or it actually fades... either way it's not too pleasing. but if you like bubblegums you might like it.

cynthiaOh bubblegum smell doesn't sound so bad. I like bubblegum, hopefully I'll find a drugstore that carries Rimmel line. I know that my drugstores that I live near by doesn't carry this line.

Linda - I like nude lipstick because it looks natural. I want people to focus on my face and cheeks, plus with a nude lipstick it doesn't overpower the look. I don't really like lipstick shades that overpower on the lip. I want people to see my face first rather than the lip.

as i said if you like bubblegums you may not find the scent offensive.

@cynthia, too bad nude doesn't look natural on me. it just makes me look dead. but i'm trying to mix some colors in so i don't look too dead because i'm quite into smokey eyes now and smokey eyes looks good with nude lips.
