Revlon Colorburst Lip Butter was one of the most talked about product when it was released more than 2 years ago. I was really excited when it finally arrived Australia, until I saw the price tag, A$21.95. Of course stores like Priceline and Chemist Warehouse have discounts from time to time. For some reason I’ve never purchased one until recently, when all Revlon lip products were reduced to A$10 at Priceline quite a few months ago.
I know, I’m supposed to be on spending ban. But I was in I-really-need-a-new-lipstick mode and I could die if I didn’t have one! Ok, not really, but you get what I mean. :p
As usual, I limited myself to get only 1 and I chose Fig Jam, which was said to be a dupe of Clinique’s Black Honey, which I used to owned but, sadly, lost it!
Although the tube itself looks dark vampy brown tone, it is very sheer with hint of red with plum or brown tone on my lips depends how much you apply and which angle you view it from.
Revlon Colorbust Lip Butter, like the name, is buttery smooth on application. The texture is quite rich but not thick and feels like lip balm on application. Hence lip balm is not required in general. But if your lips is on the very dry side lip balm is strongly recommended prior to application and do not rely on it as lip balm as the lips will feel dry after a few hours.
And being sheer, do not expect staying power, but this particular color stays longer than most sheer lipsticks in lighter colors.
Besides Clinque’s popular Black Honey, it also reminds me of one of the very original Poppy sheer lipsticks, which looks equally dark from the tube but gives a nice hint of plum or brown on the lips. Unfortunately I can’t remember the name now, but don’t think anyone cares since it’s no longer available.
Needless to say, Revlon Colorburst Lip Butter in Fig Jam has become one of my favorite lipsticks. The color is perfect for everyday wear. It doesn’t yell look-at-me but gives enough hint of color that does not wash me out.
Like: The color. Buttery smooth.
Dislike: Pricy in Australia.
