i purchased a few items from cherry culture when nyx products were 50% off many weeks ago.
most products at the sites are usually reduced (ie cheaper than nyx's website) so 50% off is a really good deal. however, to my disappointment, during the sales period, all prices went up to be the same as the official website.
i still bought a few things because they are still cheap. but i didn't buy as much as i'd like to, because i felt decieved.
not to mention that its shipping fee is quite expensive. i bought around us$16 worth of products (after discount) and was charged us$11 for shipping.
i basically bought 2 types of nyx products. concealer in a jar's and jumbo pencils. i didn't buy any eyeshadows nor lipsticks :(
this post is about the concealer.

nyx concealer in a jar. it's $5.50 from nyx's website and currently $4.25 at cherry culture. of course at the time i bought it it's shown $5.50 and 50% off at checkout.
i bought this because some blogs say that it's a cheaper dupe of bobbi brown concealer, which costs aud$46 (and it's usd$22!) as a fan of bobbi brown concealer, i want to try it!

in beige and orange.
color selection was a guessing game. this brand isn't available in australia and i couldn't see the product physically.
i bought orange because it's said it great to neutralize dark circles. beige seems like closest match after doing some g00gle research.

color swatched at the back of my hand. of course the color isn't as strong after blended.
user experience
i've been using these products exclusively for the past 2 weeks.
my first impression was, why some bloggers call them bobbi brown concealers dupe? they are not creamy at all. product in the jar feels solid and hard. did i get dried out products?
also due to the design of the glass jars, it's not easy to scoop out product with my finger. i also don't like how it feels when applied with my fingers. maybe it's too cold at the moment and there's not enough warmth from my finger to blend out the product.
i've tried to used it with ecotools concealer brush and sigma's concealer brush. they don't seem to blend out the concealer well and leave streaks. then i remember seeing the pixiwoo sisters using some mac fluffy brush (i can't remember the number) when applying concealer. i used sigma's blending brush, which did a much better job! that brush is finally put into good use because i don't like it as blending brush.
the only problem i have is, product eventually settles into fine lines. i've yet found a concealer that doesn't settle into my fine lines. i guess it's my fault...
the product stays better if it's set with powder. but setting with powder makes fine lines more visible. i don't see too much problem if using alone, it's just not as long lasting.
i don't think it's a bobbi brown concealer dupe because it doesn't have the creamy consistency.
at this stage i'm still unsure if i'll repurchase.
orange

i have serious dark circles (i know, if i stop gaming late into the night that would help a lot...) i read that orange concealers are great as a base. i don't think i've seen any orange concealers (that is affordable) in australia. i bought this to give it a try.
somehow this seems to enhance my dark circles... is it too dark for me?
it doesn't make much difference when i applied 2nd layer of any of my normal concealers over it.
either this isn't for me or i need some advise how to use it.
beige

i was debating if i should get light or beige. i ended up with beige because light looks quite pink in most swatches i found.
it seems a tad bit darker when applied but seems to be a good match after blending.
the product when used alone covers the dark circles well. which makes me wonder if using an orange base is necessary.
