order from bokeh face cosmetics

my order from bokeh face cosmetics. it came nicely wrapped. i have previously done a mini review about my initial impression.

bfc order - eyeshadows, foundations and blushes

all the samples came in clam shell containers.

i have a love-hate relationship with them. i prefer them over baggies but have great fear of spills when handling them. i only get that much sample and if get knocked over, i'll lost everything. i once accidentally dropped one of them and luckily it wasn't opened!

due to this reason i won't be taking product photos. i'll take them on demand if i'm doing certain looks and if i have time.

my attempt to swatch some of the colors fails. i'm never good at them so i might as well not showing inaccurate colors. you can easily google for better color swatches.

bfc foundation samples - medium pale and pale

the foundation samples in pale and medium pale. medium pale can almost match my skin tone and pale is too pale for me. pale foundations usually make your skin look grey and dead but these seems to look fine on me. i'm still waiting for the missing medium which i expect to be a better match for me.

like most mineral foundations my skin will be shiny after a few hours. need to blot 1-2x throughout my long day.

bfc blushe samples - lotus, fab and glam

the 3 blush samples in lotus, fab and glam.

these are nice colors. since i'm don't wear much blush i don't know how and what to benchmark. i don't heavily apply my blush so there aren't too much visible difference. they provide nice enough flush to my face.

bottom of clam shell jar

the bottom view of the blush samples. these are opaque containers so on the minus side, you can't see the colors clearly. but they are just samples. i'm not too fussy.

bfc eyeshadows samples

the eyeshadow samples. i didn't expect myself to order these, but the nice swatches i found via google tempted me. i was going to order only 1 lot of samples, but there were too many pretty colors.

i have done some looks with them. i haven't used all of them. i'm quite like with the ones i've tried. nice colors, and especially... they didn't crease on me!

bfc label

the labels on the clam shell.

my only complaint is the small print of the name of the eyeshadows. it's hard to read. (please don't tell me i'm old!) with longer names some letters also got cropped out.

bfc label

a different lable. the print is even harder to read. luckily this is the only one with different label from the rest so i can look for it easily.

my thoughts

as mentioned in the mini review, i ordered 3 lots of samples. 6 face samples for the price of 5 and 6 eyeshadow samples for the price of 5. i had to make 2 lots of eyeshadow samples because maximum limit of characters constraint in the comment box. i expect 18 samples all together but received only 15. i contaced natalie again and am waiting for the rest to come.

i found about this brand mentioning from various blogs i read. i was interested to try its mineral foundation. however at the time the store was hosted on artfire and i didn't like artfire's interface. yes, that can be a reason too! :)

when it launched its own website back in june and annouced a 20% off coupon code via its fb page i decided to order something.

there were some hiccups with the new site and natalie was quick to fix and respond.

first i couldn't sign up with an international address.

then shipping was calculated incorrectly at checkout. it says $0 for my less than $50 order. i thought about being greedy but decided to be honest and contact them. i hate to see small indies loosing money. they're the one allows me to try good and cheap makeup! i was told to proceed with checkout and shipping will be on them.

these samples were ordered in mid-june but arrived about 8 weeks later. it's quite long and i was so relieved that it finally arrived. it's forgivable given that the website was newly launch and there could be some hiccups. i'll benchmark the shipping time if i'm making another order.

the new website is nicely design and layout, which makes browsing easier.

there are only product colors shown from the website. i had to do my own google rearch for color swatches to decide what colors i want to try.

if you're going to order from the site, it's best to do what i did. google for swatches. because product colors shown on the website are more vibrant than the actual colors.

i'm quite happy with the colors i chose. like i said, i haven't tried all of them, but i've used most of them and quite happy with them. they last all day on me! i'm impressed!

i'm also quite happy with the foundation. just waiting for the missing order to arrive then decide what i want.

update 20/10/11: i still haven't received the missing samples. emailed natalie a few weeks ago and have not heard back. it's quite unlikely i'll buy from bokeh face. let the search of another mineral foundation begin again...
