korean actresses wannabe

makeup

i like the natural no-makeup look worn by most korean actresses. but we all know they use makeup to look like they're not wearing any or much makeup.

the truth is, most of them have great skin, which provides a good canvas to work with. most of them are already pretty pre-makeup, whether its natural or surgically enhanced. they have great features to carry the look.

i don't have great skin. i don't have great features. in other words i'm really plain. not to mention i'm not as young as most of them. i look tired without makeup. and to look like i'm not wearing any makeup, i still look tired.

look of the day

after watching a few korean actresses inspired makeup tutorials on youtube, i decided to do another attempt to look natural like korean actresses. i'm just trying to do a makeup look similar to theirs. i'm not trying to be or look like them.

i didn't follow any particular tutorial. i can't remember much detail anyway.

the key to eye makeup is bright and minimal.

for the brightness i used australis chubby dash eye, lip and cheek pencil in silver ice (discontinued product). it's shimmery white. i used it as base filled in from the eyelid to the crease. add a dash of color on the brow bone and under eyes.

to add a bit of color to the eyes, pink eyeshadow was used on the lids. i used red earth secret potion eye 'n glow eyeshadow. it's in loose powder format. the name of the color was peeled off. it's bright pink in color.

to keep it looking natural, a brown eyeliner was used to rim the eyes. i used bourjois duochrome eyeliner in brun mordore.

i did 2 different lip looks with the same makeup.

natural look with glossy nude lips

natural look with glossy nude lips.

most tutorials use pink tone lipsticks and glosses. pink is not my favorite color and i don't have anything pink that's light and natural for this look.

to do a lighter lip look, i used neutrogena lipstick in just whisper as a base. this was lightly used to tone down my naturally darker lip color. then glossed with origins lipgloss transforming lip glaze - this is pearly white. just whisper makes me look sick and the gloss brighten the color.

ps, i like origin lipglosses. it has this minty freshness that makes your lips feel so soothing when applied. but don't expect too much staying power with them.

natural look with darker lips

natural look with stronger lip color. with bobbi brown lipstick in toasted pink (tho the name says pink, this is actually orangy brown) and sephora lipgloss in rosy glow.

i'm still a fan of stronger lip look. i prefer this look than the previous look. lighter lip color makes me look washout and sick.

i love the first look, very natural. looks like you're not wearing too much makeup or no makeup at all. it doesnt look washout at all! very nice!!
