makeup

drawing eyeliner is my weakest link.

it hasn't been part of my makeup routine for many many many years. i thought it was because i had weird eye shape. the fact is, i didn't do it properly. i refused to draw near the lash lines.

it was a makeover 2 (or 3?) x'mas ago that i started to know what it's all about. i did so many makeovers in my life and i never grasp that. i usually told them that i got sensitive eyes so they usually don't bother with too much eyeliners.

i've since re-introduce eyeliners back into my makeup routine. however i couldn't do it properly. esp trying to wing it out. i really wanted to do michelle phan's double winged eyeliner. i ended up erasing the wings.

those makeup tutorials on youtube are great places to learn makeup. they all made drawing eyeliners so easy. but when i tried to do it, i still couldn't do it right. i couldn't winged it out nicely.

eye liner

my attempt this morning was the best so far. i know, it's still not perfect. it's too low. and too long. i didn't even bother with double wings because i couldn't do single wing properly.

i was going to do a very simple and quick makeup. somehow i spent too much time drawing the line. the boy was late for school.

imagine this... his teacher asked, 'why are you late today?' he replied, 'because my mom spent too much time putting on makeup.' /facepalm

need more practice...

items used

laura mercier foundation primer.

laura mercier tined moisturizer in nude. applied with foundation brush. i didn't like using foundation brush because i thought it's wasting too much product. but i'm now in love with applying liquid or wet foundation with brush.

sn brow color in light brunette.

christian dior whites and white eye shadow - chose the white with golden tone lightly washed the whole eye area, from crease to brow bone. and line the under eye lids.

laura mercier caviar eyeliner in black with wet flat eyeliner brush. used the slant flat brush to create the wings.

bourjois blush in rose d'or.

mac lipstick in viva glam. the pic looks a bit orangy, but it's really really red.

not bad for first try. ^.~ what i usually do is start from the end part which is the wing and work your way into the middle of your eye. but i dont use liquid eyeliner, i use a flat angle brush and dip it to mac blacktrack fluidline.

i might try the liquid liner and see if i can do it too...hmmm. you did well!!

i always thought that people who have the "folds" (aka double eyelid) on their lids have such advantage on drawing eyeliners - cuz they could just draw the lines right on the folds/crease! for me, who has no folds, had to practice...and sometimes you can barely see my liners when i have my eyes open.

@linda, it's not my first try. it's after many many tries that i got this still not perfect but can get out of the house look.

@annie, my liners disappears when my eyes are open too! because the eye lids are folded inside the folds. most of the times the lines look nice with eyes closed but look different when my eyes are opened, or vice versa. quite frustrating!

I tried doing a wing a couple times but no success and after doing a wing I don't look natural seems like I forced in. Also I'm not 20 something anymore. The wing looks good on you, also I don't like to use liquid eyeliner, after I put it on it feels my eyes look so fake and un-natural.

@cynthia, i can't grasp liquid liner too! always ended up a mess. i find that i have more control with damp flat eyeliner brush. but need to change to slant flat brush for a better winged effect.
