one of the makeup expert advise is to focus on your best feature on your face.
i used to focus just on my lips. not that i have pretty lips. in fact i used to hate my lips. i was teased 'big mouth' when i was young. traditionally chinese don't like women with big mouth. they believe women with big mouth will eat so much and make their husbands poor. however australians seems to like my lips. i got a lot of compliments about my 'full lips'. hence i thought it was my best feature on my face.
it was only in recent years i started to put makeup focus on my eyes. i don't have pretty eyes and i usually stear away focus on the eyes. but since a makeover at laura mercier i discovered that with good makeup it can transform to something better than what you have.
don't just focus on a single feature that you think looks the best. don't be afraid of exploring other looks. sometimes you'll be surprised with the outcome!
i usually prefer going to work with subtle smokey eyes. it's more suitable for office environment. though sometimes i do go to work with darker eyes. the down side is, nothing ever stays on my lids and my eye usually look like a mess by afternoon. by the end of the day i don't look like how i got out of the house in the morning.

color of the day is black and green. with my current favorite black eyeliner - bourjois coutour clubbing waterproof eye pencil in black party (reviewed in previous post) and with the discontinued l'oreal eye smoker line and shadow crayon in forest.
the look will be better with darker brows. this wasn't the planned look. it's casual friday and i was thinking a soft natural look. i changed my mind while working on my eyes.
have i mentioned that i'm in love with using eye pencil to color the lids? it's quick and convenient!
used the black to line and filled the top lid. smudge. then apply a layer of green on top, focus on outer corner. smudge. repeat till you get the required intensity.
on lower lids, use black to line outer 1/3 of the eyes and use the green to line inner 2/3 of the eyes. smudge and blend.
apply a shimmery greenish eyeshadow to intensify the color. i used silk naturals eyeshadow in danny. this can be optional.
on my lips, silk naturals lipstick in very berry. a cool pink.
