de leon cosmetics lipglosses - the nonsticky goodness

makeupreview

perhaps you remember these from a previous initial review for de leon cosmetics.

de leon cosmetics lipgloss samples in #1, #11, #13.

i was originally contaced by gladys, the owner, to try the eye primer (yes, an overdue review...) but was surprised to see the lipgloss samples (and many other samples) included. and i'm glad she included the glosses! because out of the all de leon cosmetics products sent for review, i was most impressed with the lipglosses.

they are everything normal lipglosses are not.

they are not sticky. they are pigmented. they are moisturizing. they do not make lips feel heavy. and the colors are so pretty!

i'm not a huge fan of glosses mainly because i don't like how they feels on my lips. there was also one stage of my life i suddenly fell in love lipglosses only because i loved shiny lip looks, but i couldn't get over the stickiness. my hatred of how tacky they feel overpowered my love for shiny lips and i avoided using lipglosses all together for a few years.

well, sort of... i'd add glosses to my lips from time to time, when i forgot why i don't use them. then i remembered why i don't use them.

i'm now in love with lipglosses again.

the colors

color swatches

the colors swatched at the back of my hand.

all these colors are pretty and wearable.

i'm stressing the wearable part. how many time cosmetic companies release new products with the same old yawning limited range of colors, with maybe just one color that could possibly work on me for once. and very often i'm disappointed and money is wasted.

i could wear all these colors!

i tried to do lip swatches, however most of them aren't good enough to share. blame it on my bad lip brush application. they look good from a distance but the uneven applications in close up shots are too embarassing to share. i've done some looks with these glosses. just look them up via search box.

here are some closeup shots of product colors from sample jars. the colors are quite wysiwyg.

more thoughts

they look great just by themselves or on top of another lip product.

my absolute favorite is #1 looks better in red. it's a perfect deep red. thanks to gladys for including a lipstick balm in the same shade, previously reviewed here. love it!

all the darker colors received for review are very pigmented. they're great for winter / fall looks or for elegant looks. #10 and #13 are less intense and are great for spring / summer looks. these 2 are on my wishlist.

they are not super duper shiny like dior plastic shine glosses or mac lipglasses (maybe due to application with lip brush and i'm not great using lip brush).

they are scentless. they do not have the plastic or artificial smells like most glosses do.

be prepared for the massive pigments. they will definitely leave distinctive marks on your cups.

the staying power is longer than most glosses. the shine will eventually fade. the color will also eventually fade, but they do not disappear completely until meal time.

full size product comes in normal lipgloss tube with doe foot applicator. i hope that make applications easier and more even.

they retail at aud$14.50. the pricetag is less competitive than indies from the states. but locally in australia, you can't find something this good at this price. a gloss that's not sticky! i'm sold!

and what's more exciting? de leon cosmetics just launched their shiny new website this evening! orders can be done directly from the website now, including international orders.

products were sent for consideration. it does not affect my opinion. i'm not affiliated.
