de leon cosmetics eye primer (sample size).
this is something that i most looked forward to from the samples that the company sent me. long time readers know my forever battle to find the perfect affordable primer. will this be it?
a different way of application
the texture of this eye primer is different from the ones that i have used. it's in solid form and is very firm.
even though an instruction leaflet was included, i couldn't work out how to use it.
initially i wiped my finger across the product. it's so firm i wasn't sure if my finger picked up anything. but it seemed something was picked up because eyeshadow did last longer, but not long enough.
i contacted gladys who later uploaded a video on fb page, which makes more sense.
you need to prick the product out with something. i used the back of my nail. it's so smooth and melts instantly when applied on the skin.

this is what the product looks like after a few uses. you don't end up with a nice smooth surface.
on my super crease prone eyes, the layering method (discovered not long ago trying to make udpp work) works best. single layer lasts about 4-5 hrs. 2 layers lasts about 8-9 hrs. 3 layers lasts about as long.
i use about size of small match head size of product per layer per eye.
though the product is white, it melts into you skin clear. it feels very smooth but it's not oily.
another note about application. make sure eyeshadows are padded onto the eyelid. when blending the colors, blend lightly. over blending with too much wiper motion doesn't make eyeshadows last as long.
the instruction video also demonstrated that the primer enhanced eyeshadow colors. i rarely have the chance of wearing intense eye makeup to test out this aspect.
my thoughts
with my serious creasing problem, it's hard to find a product that works. i'm pleased that this primer keeps my shadow in place.
in most cases, eyeshadow colors are less vibrant by the end of the day. this doesn't bother me much and i don't usually use intense color to begin with. by then i'm going home. as long as long as eyeshadows do not crease and do not make me looking messy.
if i'm going out somewhere after work, i will have to fix my makeup. it lasts about 8 to 9 hrs on my eyes. my eyelids turns oily thereafter. again this doesn't bother me. it only happens once in a blue moon that i get to go out after work. and if i go out after work, i will have to fix my makeup anyway.
the product last a long time. little goes a long way. i'm into 2nd month using this primer. i have been using it 90% of the time and there are still quite a lot left.
i'm quite pleased with it. it works. it's affordable. it's available locally!
the primer is aud$10 and can be purchased from the shiny new website.
de leon cosmetic is a new australian indie located in sunny queensland. i have reviews on other samples i tried - lipstick balm and lipglosses (love them!)
product was sent for consideration. i'm not affiliated.
