my latest order from black rose minerals - luciferi collection samples.
i had been debating if i should get this collection. the colors are so gorgeous, but they're dark. it's spring in australia and i was thinking about getting something bright like nsfw or sprinkles collections. or i should try eyeshadows from other indies in my to-try list.
i ended up ordering sample jars from the collection. it was limited edition at the time. i didn't want to miss out.
2 freebie samples were included. i didn't realize they're glitters until i wanted to try them out. and... i've never used glitters. i get the idea after tweeting rosa and reading glady's comments about using mixing medium. just don't have the chance to use them yet.

close up of the package. isn't it cute? :)
as usual, rosa also included a lot of stickers for pretty girl. lots of halloween stickers. pretty girl hates halloween because the decorations are so scary. but now she thinks halloween is cool after seeing those cute stickers. thank you so much, rosa!!

the special label for the collection. cute cute cute!

the color label is now on the bottom of the jar, along with ingredient list.
not too sure if i like this... now i can't just look for colors at a glance. i need to lift the jar to check colors. and now that the bottom of the jar is no longer transparent, i can't see the colors.

all 8 colors from the collection. gorgeous colors!
the colors are a bit darker in real life. like dark and almost black with different tones of colors. i was surprised that the color showed up quite bright in photos with good sunlight.
as usual, my swatch failed. :( i was hoping with perfect lights the swatches should turn out nicely. i just don't do great swatches with loose eyeshadows.
you can always check out swatches from brm's website. the website has great photos. i love that it shows the product color, color swatched wet and dry, and color on eye ball. the latter is always a bonus for me to decide if i should get the color since when applied on the eyes it often looks different than swatching colors on your arms.

keep in mind that the colors are actually darker than what you see here.

my thought
i've lost count how many ordered i had with brm. i just keep going back! many indies came out with beautiful halloween collection at the time. i thought about trying them out but ended up with brm because i know i can trust it.
the colors are absolutely gorgeous. they are dark and leans to black but not the boring blacks. love the red, green, blue, purple etc comng through the black.
so far i've only used bloody kisses, steele, paradise lost and scabbed wings. the staying power of these with help of primer are great.
they are very pigmented too! great for creating interesting smokey eyes.
and because they are dark, i won't see myself using them much in coming months. i don't tend to wear dark colors in spring / summer because i usually end up looking like a mess at the end of the day. i'll take my time to try out other colors in the collection and wait for winter / fall.
the collection was limited edition at the time. it's now permanent! yay! bloody kisses definitely goes in my wish list.
in action

smokey eyes with bloody kisses. more here.

smokey eyes with scabbed wings with dot of garble blaster at the center of the lid.
in both looks the shadow were kept in place with de leon cosmetics primer. the colors weren't as intense by the end of the day but the shadows were still nicely in place. i'm really in love with this primer at the moment.
this blog is turning 2 this month. make sure you check out my blogaversary post for a small surprise!
de leon cosmetics primer was sent for consideration but it does not affect my opinion.
