i haven't shopped in department stores for a long time. i feel so out of reach when i flip through the pages. so expensive!
just look at price of lipsticks, quoted in aud. guerlain $68. lancome $48. ysl $55. givenchy $47. chanel $50. dior $48. sheseido $45.
it's so easy to spend over $100 nowadays. the ysl shadow 5-color eyeshadow palette itself is already $99. lancome eye color quad $83.
current currency exchange rate aud$1 = usd$0.91. if you compare prices with those listed at sephora, it's really good profit!
i always wonder do they sell? who'd buy here? the poor can't afford them. the rich could fly overseas and get them at a more reasonable price.

yea thats what most European are doing, buying things here in the US and sell the things @ their euro $$. but over all here those brand they're about that price, i'll have to show you what i got from shisedo over the weekend. =P
@linda, it's the same in europe too? i thought it's only australia. 
It's a advantage for Europeans to travel to US to buy shop and buy cosmetics for cheaper name brands, because their Euro exchange rates and living cost are higher than US. Last time I went to Barcelona their Euro rates were $1 Euro to $1.80 USD - almost 2 dollars estimate exchange for me. When I went back in Nov everything was double and shopping their wasn't worth it for me cause I'm losing money and paying more. As for selling wise I'm not sure if European sells it back out as a market source when European fashions and cosmetics are industries are pretty advance to begin with which holds a lot of brand name stuff already i.e Chanel, Gucci, and Louis Viuitton.
